REDCLIFF Produces Japan’s First Drone Comedy Show to Celebrate the Standalone Live Performance of “Reiwa Roman”

— 500 Drones Illuminate the Night Sky in a Fusion of Comedy and Promotion —

Red Cliff Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Komei Sasaki; hereinafter “Red Cliff”), a company specializing in the planning and operation of drone shows, produced Japan’s first¹ “Drone Comedy Show” on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Staged in Tokyo with 500 drones, the performance was held as part of the promotional campaign celebrating the standalone live show of comedy duo Reiwa Roman (Kuruma Takahira and Kemuri Matsui).

Japan’s First “Drone Comedy Show”

The approximately 15-minute performance featured a unique “aerial manzai” act, with Kemuri Matsui performing live alongside Kuruma Takahira, whose likeness was drawn in the night sky by drones. Iconic symbols such as the legendary “Sanpachi Microphone” and the logo of the M-1 Grand Prix—Japan’s premier comedy competition in which the duo has claimed victory for two consecutive years—appeared one after another above the audience. In addition, real-time interactions were created as Kemuri responded with ad-lib lines to drone-drawn text in the sky, delivering a one-of-a-kind stage that seamlessly fused comedy and awe.

In the show’s finale, additional information was revealed for Reiwa Roman’s first standalone live performance in seven years, “RE:IWAROMAN,” to be held at K-Arena Yokohama on May 16, 2026. The announcement included the event date and the launch of the official first lottery ticket pre-sale. At the same time, Red Cliff’s signature *“Drone Show QR®”*² appeared in the night sky, allowing the audience to access the official website and apply directly for tickets on the spot—an interactive touch full of Reiwa Roman’s playful spirit. Finally, Kuruma himself appeared in person, and together with Kemuri, the duo brought the show to a spectacular close.

This drone show was made possible after Kuruma Takahira and Komei Sasaki, CEO of Red Cliff, were both selected as honorees of Forbes JAPAN 30 UNDER 30 2024. Their collaboration began when they appeared together on the business culture program “3003 – San Zero Zero San -”, where Mr. Takahira serves as MC. The partnership between these two talents from different fields has given shape to a new form of creative expression.

Profile – Reiwa Roman

Reiwa Roman is a Japanese comedy duo consisting of Kuruma Takahira and Kemuri Matsui, formed in April 2018. They won first place at NSC Dai Live TOKYO 2018 and the NHK Newcomer Entertainment Award in 2020.

The duo advanced to the semifinals of the M-1 Grand Prix in 2018 and 2022, and made history by becoming the first-ever champions for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024.
