(Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Base: Kamishihoro, Hokkaido; CEO: Toshifumi Suganuma), presented the “Pococha × REDCLIFF Special Drone Show” at the 73rd Tokachi Fireworks Festival (organized by Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper) on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Featuring 500 drones, the show illuminated the night sky with light motifs inspired by Obihiro, captivating the audience gathered at the venue.
Hokkaido’s Premier Fireworks Festival in Obihiro
The Katsumai Fireworks Festival is the largest fireworks event in Hokkaido, held every August in Obihiro City. Set against the banks of the Tokachi River, its large-scale and powerful displays are considered among the finest in Japan, making it a beloved summer tradition that symbolizes Hokkaido. Known for its dramatic productions that combine fireworks with music, the festival attracts spectators from all over the country each year.
Motifs of Local Wildlife and Soft-Serve Ice Cream in Obihiro
At this year’s Katsumai Fireworks Festival, Red Cliff, together with its partner North Drone Show, presented the very first drone show in the festival’s 73-year history as part of the opening performance.
On the day of the event, 500 units of the dedicated drone show aircraft “RiFF” (※), equipped with 30W high-intensity LEDs, soared into the sky. A series of animations unfolded, featuring motifs inspired by the nature and wildlife of Obihiro, as well as trailers, soft-serve ice cream, and more. The precisely choreographed lights created an enchanting spectacle, drawing loud cheers from the audience. On social media, comments included: “I was moved even before the fireworks began” and “The drone formations were truly impressive.”
