Red Cliff Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Komei Sasaki; hereinafter “Red Cliff”), a company specializing in the planning and operation of drone shows, will produce and operate “Genki Hatsuratsu! Grand Chorus in the Sky”, a special project commemorating the 60th anniversary of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.’s carbonated nutritional drink “Oronamin C Drink” (hereinafter “Oronamin C”), at the 97th National Fireworks Competition Omagari Hanabi (Omagari Fireworks Festival) on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

This project marks Japan’s first-ever attempt (Note 1) to orchestrate a grand chorus with the audience, as approximately 1,300 drones illuminate the night sky with lyrics, musical staves, and Oronamin C-shaped notes, accompanying singer-songwriter Kan’s iconic hit “Ai wa Katsu” (Love Will Win). In addition, the largest-ever Oronamin C in the brand’s history—measuring about 225 meters in height and 65 meters in width—will appear in the sky, creating a breathtaking spectacle.

At the Otaru Tide Festival Grand Fireworks in Hokkaido on Sunday, July 27, 2025, the project received an overwhelming response, with official Oronamin C Drink social media posts recording a total of over 13.5 million views (Note 2). Following this success, it has now been confirmed that the event will also take place at Omagari Hanabi one of Japan’s three major fireworks festivals (Note 3).

(Note 1) According to Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s research (as of June 16, 2025), this is Japan’s first-ever event in which drones draw musical scores and lyrics in the sky to accompany a chorus.
(Note 2) Total cumulative views across Oronamin C Drink’s official X and TikTok accounts (as of August 4, 2025).
(Note 3) In addition to the initially scheduled three venues—Shizuoka’s 72nd Abekawa Fireworks Festival (canceled along with the fireworks festival), Hokkaido’s 59th Otaru Tide Festival Grand Fireworks, and Kumamoto’s 38th Yatsushiro National Fireworks Competition—it has been newly decided that the project will also be held at Akita’s 97th National Fireworks Competition Omagari Hanabi.

Red Cliff’s Collaboration with Omagari Hanabi, Japan’s Premier Fireworks Competition

Omagari Hanabi traces its origins back to the “Oku-Roku Fireworks Competition,” first held in 1910 as part of the Suwa Shrine festival in Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. With over 100 years of history, it is regarded as Japan’s premier fireworks competition. Held three times a year—in spring, summer, and autumn—under different themes, Omagari Hanabi symbolizes “the town of fireworks, Omagari” and serves as a cultural ambassador, sharing the artistry of Japanese fireworks with audiences both domestically and internationally.
