— A Unique Collaboration with Comedy Duo “Kamaitachi”!
A 15-minute story-driven drone show that brings the myths of Lake Shinji to life in the sky.—
REDCLIFF Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Koumei Sasaki), a company specializing in the planning and production of drone shows, will deliver the largest-ever drone performance in the history of the Matsue Suigo-sai Lake Fireworks Festival on August 2 (Sat) and 3 (Sun), 2025 in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture.
Following the overwhelming response to the festival’s first-ever drone show in 2024, this year’s performance will be scaled up from 500 to 888 drones.
Adding to the excitement, the latter half of the show will feature a special collaboration with the popular comedy duo “Kamaitachi,” who are producing a unique segment of the performance. The result is an expanded, dynamic drone experience combining technology, storytelling, and entertainment.
A story-driven drone performance that brings the myths of Lake Shinji to life in the sky
This year’s drone show will unfold as a story-driven performance inspired by the mythology surrounding Lake Shinji’s origins.
Legendary creatures such as a wild boar, a dog, and the mythical Yamata no Orochi—a fearsome serpent with eight heads and eight tails sharing one body—will appear, forming epic visuals in the night sky.
To enhance its presence, Yamata no Orochi’s eyes will be lit using “flash modules” that shine six times brighter than standard LED lights, creating a powerful and immersive expression of this mythological being.

The show will also feature aerial depictions of the newly redesigned Matsue Suigo-sai logo, the crimson sunset of Lake Shinji (recognized as one of the “100 Best Sunsets in Japan”), and iconic landmarks and specialties of Shimane Prefecture and Matsue City.
This immersive 15-minute performance is directed by Shinichi Kudo, a renowned director known for his work across film, stage, and multimedia productions. With a delicate visual style and deep regional storytelling, the show invites audiences into a uniquely local and emotionally resonant experience.
Special Collaboration: Kamaitachi Produces a Night Sky Spectacle in Matsue
The second half of the show will feature a drone performance produced by the popular comedy duo Kamaitachi.
This special collaboration was made possible after Kenji Yamauchi, a Matsue City native and member of Kamaitachi, was deeply moved by last year’s drone show at the same festival.
The behind-the-scenes discussions for this collaboration were also featured in a video released on July 11 (Fri) on the duo’s official YouTube channel, “Kamaitachi Channel.”
