Relive the night sky of the Osaka-Kansai Expo once again. The special drone show project for the 1st anniversary of the opening is now underway!

NEWS & TOPICS

The night sky of the Expo, which an estimated 8.76 million people gazed upon, will be revived for one night only!
Red Cliff will perform a drone show at the 1st Anniversary Memorial Event, with crowdfunding launching on March 27th.

Red Cliff Inc., a company specializing in the planning and operation of drone shows, is sponsoring “EXPO2025 Futures Festival.” This event marks the first phase of “EXPO2025 Futures,” the 1st anniversary memorial celebration hosted by the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition.
On Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Momijigawa Lawn Plaza in Expo ’70 Commemorative Park (Suita City, Osaka), Red Cliff will present a special, one-night-only version of the drone show “One World, One Planet,” which captivated countless visitors during the Expo.

In addition, this project aims to make the drone show feel more personal and accessible to everyone under the theme of a “Participatory Drone Show.” To support this, a crowdfunding campaign will launch on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 7:00 PM.

The drone show that illuminated the night sky of the Expo

Red Cliff participated in the Osaka-Kansai Expo as a Platinum Partner for the Association’s planned events, performing the “One World, One Planet” drone show over a period of approximately six months.

Throughout the period from March 17 to October 13, 2025 (including the preparation phase),a cumulative total of 140,194 drone flights was recorded.

Performed in the night sky over Yumeshima, the night program “One World, One Planet” was held 171 times during the Expo. With an estimated 8.76 million people (*1) looking up at the sky, it became one of the event’s most iconic highlights.

Even after the Expo’s closing, we have received many heartfelt comments such as, “I want to see those lights once more,” “It was an unforgettable night,” and “I wish I could have shown it to my family.”

In response to these sentiments, we will perform a special drone show to mark the 1st anniversary of the Osaka-Kansai Expo’s opening, bringing back the memories of that night sky.

The creative team reunites.

For this show, the original creative team from the Expo will reunite.

Red Cliff will collaborate with members of the original team, including Kenji Kohashi, the Event Planning Producer for the Osaka-Kansai Expo, and Creative Director Junshiro Kameyama. Together, they will create a drone show specifically for this event, building upon the original performance that illuminated the Expo’s night sky.

The memory of that night sky, which so many gazed upon at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, will be revived for one night only as a special drone show to mark the 1st anniversary of its opening.

Bringing the “Giant Myaku-Myaku” back to the night sky.

The “Giant Myaku-Myaku” drone display appeared as a surprise on the final day of the Expo and left a lasting impression on many visitors. For this upcoming show, we are drawing on those memories and considering expanding the scale of the performance based on the level of support received through the crowdfunding campaign.

This includes the possibility of creating a display where Myaku-Myaku is once again drawn in the night sky.

The more support and passion we gather, the broader the range of expression will become, allowing the scenes drawn in the night sky to scale up with even greater richness.

From a show to watch, to a show to join.

This crowdfunding campaign is an initiative to expand the drone show from “entertainment to watch” into an “experience you can participate in.”

The rewards include *viewing tickets for a special designated area (2) and exclusive merchandise, as we look forward to building excitement for this project together with all our supporters.

Plans are also in place for support certificates featuring your name and inclusion in the end credits of a drone show video to be released at a later date, allowing people from all over the country to participate in the project even if they cannot attend in person.

Connecting the philosophy of the Osaka-Kansai Expo to the future.

This project is not a simple reproduction of the drone show held during the Expo. It is an initiative to once again illuminate the Osaka night sky with the message of the Osaka-Kansai Expo’s theme: “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”

The Expo has closed, but the challenge for the future continues.

We do not want to leave that night sky only as a memory;
we want to deliver it once more as a real, living light.

And carry it forward into the future as a new memory.

“That inspiration, once more.
And beyond.”

We would be honored to have many of you join us for a night that surpasses that original inspiration.

*1: Estimated number of spectators for the night program “One World, One Planet.” held during the Osaka-Kansai Expo. This is a reference value calculated by assuming that approximately 60% of Expo visitors stayed until the evening hours, and of those, the percentage who viewed the program was “approx. 80% on days the drone show was held, and approx. 10% on days it was not.” Data on the number of sessions and visitor figures are cited from the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition’s “Visitors by Area of the Osaka-Kansai Expo” (Provisional Board Meeting Materials).

*2… [Regarding Drone Show Viewing Tickets for the Special Area]
The “Drone Show Viewing Ticket for the Special Area” allows you to watch the drone show from an area with better visibility. This ticket is valid only during the drone show performance time and does not guarantee admission to the entire “EXPO2025 Futures Festival” event.
Additionally, for participation in exhibition/experience projects and stage programs at the “EXPO2025 Futures Festival,” the organizer plans to conduct a preliminary lottery (free of charge). If you wish to participate in these programs, please apply separately for the “EXPO2025 Futures Festival” preliminary lottery.
