〜500 drone show and dinner through Hometown〜
The “Kamiashihoro Christmas Drone Show 2024” will be held for five days from December 21 (Sat.) to 25 (Wed.), 2024, at Kamiashihoro Roadside Station. Following the previous show in 2021, this year’s event will be scaled up to be the largest in Hokkaido (*1), with 500 drones creating a fantastic show.
Christmas Drone Show returns after 3 years
The first “Kamishiro Christmas Drone Show” held in 2021 was the largest of its kind in Japan at that time (*2), with 300 drones decorating the night sky and a total of over 12,000 visitors. In response to the feedback from the audience, such as “I hope the show will continue,” “I hope it will be held in the summer as well,” and “I would like to see a collaboration with fireworks,” this year’s show will use 500 drones to deliver an even larger-scale production.

The “Kamihoro Christmas Drone Show 2024” will consist of two parts, the first of which will be a three-dimensional animation linked to music, combining animation with 3D design and dynamic LED light dimming to provide an emotional and realistic visual experience for the audience. The audience will be treated to a moving and realistic visual experience.
The second part of the festival will be “Santa Claus Goes to Everyone’s City in the World! The second part of the show, themed “Santa Claus Goes to Every Town in the World,” will depict the journey of Santa Claus in a storybook style, with Christmas motifs coloring the clear winter sky. The show will end with a fireworks display, creating a special night sky for five days only.

Kamishihoro Town, which is promoting advanced initiatives such as drone delivery and self-driving buses, is offering a light meal plan (donation amount: 10,000 yen) and a dinner plan (donation amount: 50,000 yen) with special viewing seats for the “Kamishihoro Christmas Drone Show 2024” as part of its hometown tax return program. The plan includes a light meal (10,000 yen) and dinner (50,000 yen) with special seats to watch the spectacular show under the clear night sky. (Donation deadline: December 15, 2024)

The first drone show I ever saw was in 2021, when 300 drones took part in Kamishiboro-cho. It was very cold, but when it was time for the show, crowds gathered in the outdoor viewing area and cheered for each animation.
