A Community-Led Drone Show Filled with Wishes for Recovery
On October 11, 2025, a spectacular 500-drone light show was held at the “Noto Reconstruction Drone Show” in Wakura Onsen, Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Wakura Onsen, a historic hot spring town, suffered extensive damage during the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on January 1, 2024, and many of its inns are still unable to reopen. In an effort to bring energy back to the hot spring district, this community-led project was brought to life, carrying deep wishes for recovery.
In tandem with the vibrant energy of the “Noto Yosakoi Festival,” the drone show illuminated the night sky with a powerful message of “Reconstruction” (復興). The drones also painted colorful, glowing motifs of Noto’s representative traditional festivals, such as the “Seihakusai Festival” and the “Ishizaki Hotou Festival,” embedding prayers for the region’s revival into the sky.
Under the creative vision of director Shinichi Kudo, the performance beautifully captured the future image of “lighting up the town.” It became a truly extraordinary show where traditional culture met cutting-edge technology.
