DIG SHIBUYA DG DRONE SHOW

WORKS

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, a spectacular drone show, “DIG SHIBUYA DG DRONE SHOW,” was held over Yoyogi Park in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, using 2,200 drones, the largest number* in Japan. This drone show was one of the programs of “DIG SHIBUYA 2025,” an art and technology festival held for four days from February 8 (Saturday) to 11 (Tuesday, national holiday), and was organized jointly with Digital Garage, Inc.

Shibuya, a cultural center, expresses a message of growth and challenge in the night sky

DIG SHIBUYA DG DRONE SHOW pursues new possibilities for art and entertainment in Shibuya under the supervision of director Daihito Junma.
The production starts with a representation of the energetic “Shibuya” area, followed by a powerful depiction of a “Bokuryu” (ink dragon). The “Bokuryu” is a metaphor for the way a carp grows and transforms into a dragon, and is intended to express the hope that the carp will grow from the city of Shibuya.
Similarly, in the latter half of the show, the message “be the first penguin” is depicted along with a penguin motif, conveying the message that we hope Shibuya will take on new challenges.

It was also a great challenge for Redcliffe to conduct a drone show with 2,200 drones, the largest number in Japan.

Artistic direction of Drone Show

“Bokuryu”

Bokuryu is a work by Matazo Kayama, one of the leading artists of Japanese-style painting, whose unique beauty and techniques are highly acclaimed around the world. This work was completed in 1984 as a ceiling painting for the main hall of Kuonji Temple, the head temple of Nichiren Buddhism, located on Mount Minobu in Yamanashi Prefecture.

“Pangaea”

Pangaea is an artwork by Victoria Kovalenchikova, an artist from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It expresses the idea that we, as fellow human beings living on the same planet, should always be considerate of the Earth, and that we should live our daily lives with respect and gratitude for being able to live on such a beautiful planet, no matter what difficulties we may face.

DiGi8, “Digi-Hachi.”

A time-traveling super digital dog from the future.
In the year 2025, the 28th generation of the future’s digital dog, Loyal Dog Hachitaro, a.k.a. “Digi-Hachi,” crossed time and space to Shibuya with the sole intention of enlivening the city and, in the process, eating yakitori at a food stall. Among the many digital dogs that exist in Tokyo in 2050, Digi-Hachi is special because he is said to be a reincarnation of Hachiko. Influenced by the first Hachitaro, whose master was a university professor, Digi-Hachi is a doctoral dog and is rumored to have assisted with Japan’s first website by time-traveling. Now, in the year 2025, Digi-Hachitaro is creating a new movement in Shibuya with the technology of the future!
