TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY "Drone Show in Summer"

WORKS

“A Future Where Drones are a Part of Everyday Life” — Portraying the coexistence of future cities and drones —

We held a drone show at “TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY,” an urban redevelopment area promoted by JR East.

The drone show was organized as part of JR East’s initiative to position TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY as an “experimental ground for an enriched lifestyle 100 years into the future.”

Set against a location of great historical significance—where Japan’s first railway ran across the sea about 150 years ago—300 drones spent approximately 10 minutes painting the night sky with the progress of the railway, the history of the town, and a vision of the city’s future.
Planned with the aim of demonstrating a “future where drones are a part of everyday life” to society, the event saw many visitors cheering at the spectacle, sharing a new experience where the city and technology coexist.

The event took place in an environment with extremely strict constraints, surrounded by several active railway lines including the Yamanote Line, a national highway, and the landing path for Haneda Airport.
However, through close coordination with all relevant parties and by meeting rigorous security requirements, the show was conducted safely.

Moving beyond mere entertainment, this project served as an empirical event focused on future urban development, visualizing the social potential of drone utilization within urban spaces.
